Daniel Brühl (Rush, Inglorious Basterds) is playing Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War but you may not recognize the Marvel super-villain since Brühl won't be wearing his iconic reddish-pink hood. "He does not wear the mask," he told the Business Insider, while promoting his new movie Burnt.
In the comics, Baron Helmut Zemo began wearing the cloak to hide his identity, but it later got stuck to his face ... forever! See, he created Adhesive X, which is this super-powerful adhesive, and Captain America finds out about the scientific breakthrough and wants to destroy it before it can be used for evil. So, Cap busts into Zemo's lair and during a struggle between the two, the adhesive spills onto Zemo's hood, permanently sealing his evil fate.
We'll also have to brace ourselves for a new modern take on Zemo, which Brühl thinks is quite a bit "different" than what most people are expecting. "It's loosely connected to this character," he offered. "But that's what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they're dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think."
